The Fix to the WordPress ‘White Screen of Death’

So, I started getting the dreaded WordPress ‘White Screen of Death’ whilst trying to upload a beta version of Stage Door Mag. I was pulling my hair out for literally hour trying to fix the error, scrawling across pages and pages of fixes on the web, not one of them facing the problem. Let me give you more info about my particular error..

The error came only when i tried to update options via the dashboard, whether that was updating privacy options, general options, activating plug-in’s, or anything similar!

Then I remembered about a previous problem involving blank spaces in php. Ichecked my error log and I noticed lots of header already sent errors. The problem is, if a php file wants to redirect you to another page, via the header() function, if there are blank space outside the php tags (), you are telling the page the display blank lines, and if there is anything outputted the browser the the header() function will fail!

So to fix the wordpress white screen of death error, check your themes functions.php file and all other process file for blank lines outside of the php tags. If that doesn’t work, disable all your plugins by renaming your plug-ins folder to plugin-old and see if that works.

Obviously this isnt the answer to all of the wordpress white screen errors, but the first one is the what worked for me and the second I know is what fixes many others.
